Joy to Water

Updated: Aug 13

I DECIDED TO CHECK out the new Platte River Park which is under construction just outside Honor off U.S. 31. https://www.facebook.com/restorehonor.org/

I brought along a new spinning rod to cast a lure into the passing water. Fishing for me has little to do with catching a fish. It is an activity that places me in nature and makes me forget my concerns. It moves me into a calm state of appreciation and thankfulness.

I sure like that.

I began to experience this feeling over fifty years ago even before mindfulness became popular. I would move my focus to observe the meandering rivers or shoreline lakes I would visit. It was therapeutic. It was my connection to spirituality. I was beginning to face what was important to me and what I wanted from my existence.

There is divinity in nature and my beliefs centered on being thankful to a deity who made everything.

Joy to the world and joy to water.

Joy to the World by Three Dog Night

Jeremiah was a bullfrog

Was a good friend of mine

I never understood a single word he said

But I helped him a-drink his wine

And he always had some mighty fine wine

Singin' joy to the world

All the boys and girls now

Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea

Joy to you and me

And if I were the king of the world

Tell you what I'd do

I'd throw away the cars and the bars and the war

Make sweet love to you

Sing it now, joy to the world

All the boys and girls

Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea

Joy to you and me…
