Let The Light In

FEBRUARY IS A MONTH of many earthly changes. The cold and dark days of January are in the past and we are now heading to longer daylight joined by a dose of hope and optimism. We are indeed heading in the right direction. That I firmly believe. The light of day makes all the difference.

The beautiful lyrics in Leonard Cohen's Anthem play on me as I examine this phenomenon. I try to get my arms around their meaning. Often a difficult task with this complex lyricist.

Ring the bells that still can ring Forget your perfect offering There is a crack, a crack in everything That's how the light gets in.

L. Cohen from Anthem, 1992

It seems fitting to accept our imperfect world. It is the beauty that light reveals beneath the shield that surrounds our lives. Light seems to set the stage for everything. I let the light in because it makes me happy.

February delivers this gift to me.
